Deep River Boys - Not Too Old To Rock & Roll (Uk) [CD]
The Deep River Boys were one of the most prolific Gospel & R&B vocal groups of the 1950's with recording contacts in the USA, UK, Norway and Sweden spread across more than a dozen different labels. Led throughout by Harry Douglas the group was formed in 1936 and was led by him for 50 years. This set focuses on their most successful period as an R&B group between 1952 and 1962. It includes recordings from both sides of the Atlantic (and Baltic Sea) most of which are difficult to find and have not been re-issued until now and features recordings from Beacon, RCA, HMV (and it's Scandinavian subsidiaries), Top Rank, Gallant and Wand labels plus a live performance from the BBC's Six-Five Special.
